What is a sub-domain ?
A subdomain is the part of the Internet address for a site which precedes the domain name. The syntax is generally subdomain.domain.extension. The best known and most frequently used one is of course www.
Subdomains are very practical for spliting a site into several different sections, each with its defined address. They also avoid having to use lengthy file names.
